METAL GRADES

DH36 Grade Shipbuilding Steel

ABS, or the American Bureau of Shipping, is a quality control organization that certifies steel according to their demanding specifications. ABS certified material serves the shipbuilding industry with some of the most high-performance steel available, with properties optimized to meet all the challenges associated with shipbuilding and offshore fabrication projects. Metals USA carries a full inventory of the H-series shipbuilding steels, including AH36, EH36, and DH36 in the most widely used formats.

DH36 steel is designed to resist the harsh saline conditions of marine environments, and DH36 steel plate is typically employed for fabricating ship’s hulls, bulkheads, upper decks and hatch covers. DH36 steel contains elements such as Nb, V, Ti, and other alloying metals, and micro-alloying technology is used to enhance its mechanical properties. The controlled rolling process refines the grain of the alloy, and improves durability. Simply put, the H series of shipbuilding-grade plate offers some of the highest performance steel in the world.
