METAL GRADES

DH32 Grade Shipbuilding Steel

DH32 steel is part of the H-series of hot rolled steel stock certified by the ABS, or American Bureau of Shipping. As a certifying body, they oversee safety and quality by specifying steel standards for steel in the shipbuilding, LNG, and offshore industries. ABS certified steel is approved for the shipbuilding industry, and Metals USA carries a full selection of AH36, DH36, and EH36, AH32, and ABSA shipbuilding steel for their clients, in all of the standard sizes and thicknesses.

Like all the H-series steels, micro-alloys allow DH32 to withstand corrosive marine environments. Micro-alloying technology enhances performance, with a refined grain and improved toughness. Impact resistance, measured at different temperatures, is one of the critical distinguishing factors between the grades in the H series. As one of the highest quality steels produced in the world, the H series of shipbuilding steels is optimized for top notch performance in virtually all mechanical properties. DH32 is employed almost exclusively for shipbuilding, marine equipment, offshore oil drilling platforms, and other marine applications.
